Fight For Your Thirst-Commercial

I originally wanted to do a commercail with gum, and have someone hand another a piece of crappy gum, while they had the good kind. The second person would realize this and take the first person out, or something like that.

I got the idea from the doritos commercial with the mouse tackling the man trying to catch him.

So instead I went with Coke. I like Coke and so do a lot of other people and I wanted to give the feel that coke was so good that friends or people would light over it.
I was babysitting one night for some friends and I used their house to shoot the commercial. I invited some other friends over and used them as talent. for the beginning of the commercial the three girls are supposed to be studying and one gets up and gets something to drink. then the other two follow and end up fighting over the coke. But....when I went to capture the video something was wrong with the first part, because I was an idiot and didn't test the tape first before moving on. Lessons Learned!!! I actually worked out perftectly because the commercial ended up being the exact time. If I had added the other bit it would have been to long.

I ended up having the first girl enter the scene and opening the fridge. I feel like other commercials start that way, kind of randomly. But, really she coiuld have been doing a number of things. it doesnt matter what your doing to make you thirsty though. she grabs the coke and the second girl comes in and takes it right out of her hand. and the third comes, takes it and walks away.
when I went to edit it I kept it one way with the girl opening the fridge leaning in and then the close up of the can, then her taking it. but I changed it to her opening the fridge, close up of can and then her leaning in and taking it. it flowed better.

setting the video aside, I created all the digital work. photoshoping a coke can and messing around with cool effects in after effects. I changed things several times to get the look it has now. I felt like coke would do something like that. A lot of thier commercials are digital ,so I wanted to try something simple, but similar.

I also created the video of the can changing colors on the DVD menu. that was fun to do.
